My Amazing Study Notes is a notebook system to help summarize the work that has been done in class or the lecture room, either daily or weekly. By summarizing you are able to pull out the essence of what is being taught; allowing you to study the diamonds and not the dust. This system challenges you to set goals for your subjects and take responsibility for your studies, for each term, each subject and even for projects. It assists you in pacing yourself and planning your work. My Amazing Study Notes keeps all your study notes in one place, so no more scratching around wasting time looking for what you studied last.
Studying doesn’t suck as much as failing. Routines in life create structure, order and yes, a sense of predictability, but that predictability also fosters stability. The same goes for creating a study routine. It trains our brain to know what’s going to happen next and that is a very good thing. It’s good for getting things done, it’s good for mental health, it’s good for stress levels and it’s good for time management. It’s also really good for getting great marks. The MASN 7 step study routine shows you exactly how to go about this all-important daily routine.
The Founder of MASN. Natalie Nelson
You’re worried about your child’s marks and future, right? You want the best for them, and you want them to excel. Well as a loving, guiding parent, who wouldn’t be?
And that’s exactly why MASN came into being.
Hi, my name is Natalie, and I’m the mom of two amazing boys. I’m also a mom who hated studying and didn’t really ‘get’ the whole discipline of studying. I kind-of-got-it-almost-sort-of-nearly-figured-out when I was studying at varsity, but it still wasn’t smooth sailing.
I’m not an educator. I’m not a psychologist. I’m just a mom standing in front of two children wanting the very best for them (#nottinghillfan). Watching these two boys grow up has reminded me that the world is filled with such wonder, so much to absorb and so much to learn. The problem with this is that even though some students thrive in the school environment, many don’t and personally I think that it’s because they just don’t see the wonder. They don’t see the bigger picture. They are just not able to see the pieces fit together to make sense of it all. And this often frustrates them.
So when Thomas, my oldest son started exams in grade 4, I was determined to help him get the hang of this studying thing as quickly as possible. Anything to make the journey less painful, and actually even more enjoyable. I dug out my old varsity notes and started researching the ‘latest’ study techniques online and refined the way I had done my studies.
At varsity, I used to make notebooks for each subject and summarize them so that they were in the same place. Being a bit of a scatterbrain made that part vital because looking for study notes when they were all over the room was such a waste of time.
Back to the present and thinking about how I could help the boys develop a love for studying, I came to realize that the majority of studying came down to last-minute panic and hoping for the best. Granted this is a generalization, but I’m sure we’ve all felt this way about studies at one stage or another. I wanted to instill a love and peace when it comes to tests and exams, not anxiety and fear. I wanted to help them understand what they were learning about, and I wanted them to better themselves each time.
To challenge themselves. To push further.
MASN does all of these things. And how can I say that? Well apart from doing the research, I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I’ve seen it with the students that have been using MASN. I’ve heard it from the parents that have come back to me to say ‘wow, MASN has made all the difference’ and I’ve heard the praise from education professionals and psychologists that have commended the system; commended it for its simplicity, logic and ease of use. But more important than any of these things, I’ve seen my boys take their exams with calmness and confidence, and each term achieved the goals that they had set for themselves.
My passion has grown from watching my boys flourish to wanting to see other children/students/adults flourish too. I would love to see each person fall in love with studying because it’s not scary anymore. I would love to see people take responsibility for their learning because they realize that it’s towards their future – yes, even for the little grade 4s, because it’s never too early to start dreaming. I would love to see the daily discipline of summarizing happen because a discipline mastered is another tool towards being a successful adult. I would love to see people setting goals and achieving them and going beyond those goals. I would love to see when someone doesn’t get it right, they simply get up and keep going because they have objectives to achieve.
My vision is to ultimately see MASN becoming a recognized study system in all schools across South Africa. In order to do this, we have developed an incentive programme for schools. When a book is sold with a school reference linked to the sale, that particular school will get a percentage of the price, and an additional percentage will be sent to a nominated underprivileged school. Together we can make a huge difference to the education and dreams of our children in this beautiful country of ours.
So if you’re worried about your children’s marks, or even your own studies, please take time to explore this system. Dig into it. Ask me questions. Read the success stories. Don’t buy this because you think it’s a good system; buy it because you know it’s a good system!
My Amazing Study Notes was an excellent tool that we discovered. Within a term of our son using My Amazing Study Notes, coupled with parental tracking and assistance, his marks increased on average 15 – 20%.
I have gone from the mid-50s to the upper 60s, early 70s in one term. I am grateful to have MASN because it’s a system that really works. I look forward to using My Amazing Study Notes until matric and beyond.
The boys have readily taken to setting goals for themselves and they are both aiming for an 80 average this term. The great thing with this system is that it helps avoid the whole cramming technique and helps my boys to be disciplined and responsible for their studies. I highly recommend MASN.
